My office is currently tracking the Madre Fire Burning in the Los Padres National Forest. Out of an abundance of caution, The San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, in coordination with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and the Los Padres National Forest Service, is issuing an evacuation order for parts of San Luis Obispo County and all areas within the Carrizo Plains Ecological Preserve due to the Madre Fire.

"My heart and prayers are with the families of Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and Senator John Hoffman who were targeted in an act of political violence.
When violence such as this begins to take hold we must take a step back and look at where we are headed as a community, as a country, and as a democracy.

(SACRAMENTO) – On Tuesday, legislation by Senator Monique Limón to establish requirements for the approval and restart of oil pipelines in California passed out of the Senate Natural Resources Committee. SB 542 comes in response to community concerns over the restart process of the Sable Offshore Pipeline in Santa Barbara County.
