(SACRAMENTO) – Legislation authored by Senator Monique Limón to ensure medical debt does not hurt your credit score, is headed to the Governor for consideration. The bill sponsored by Attorney General Rob Bonta, California Nurses Association, Health Access California, Consumer Federation of America, California Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG), the National Consumer Law Center, and the California Low-Income Consumer Coalition passed out of the Senate 31 - 8 with broad support in both houses.

CA SB 496 took effect on July 1st thereby improving access for California residents to groundbreaking precision medicine technologies 

(SACRAMENTO) — California State Senator Monique Limón announced her legislation to expand access to biomarker testing, has become law. Senate Bill SB 496 was enacted to improve healthcare access and the affordability of personalized biomarker testing for current and future patients across the state with cancer and other illnesses by expanding health insurance coverage. 




(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Senator Monique Limón (D-Santa Barbara), Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement on the second anniversary of the Supreme Court's ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade:

“It has been two years since millions of women across the country lost access to essential reproductive care with the overturning of Roe v Wade. In 2024, it is a sad reality that women seeking reproductive care today have fewer options than the previous generations before them.

Senator Monique Limón issued the following statement on the passage of SB 1036 in the Senate Appropriations Committee. This legislation establishes False Advertising Standards on the voluntary carbon offsets market. 

“I am grateful that my legislation to set clear standards on the voluntary carbon offsets market has passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee. The evidence is piling up that enforceable standards must be in place to restore confidence in these products.
