(SACRAMENTO) – On Wednesday, Senator Monique Limón’s SB 476 passed out of the Senate and is headed to the Governor’s Desk. SB 476 would require employers, not workers, to pay for mandatory food safety training.

(SACRAMENTO) – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond has named Senator Monique Limón co-chair of a special task force to ensure students have access to information that is inclusive of the diverse narratives of California. Thurmond, Limón and legislative leaders are asking California textbook publishers to appear at a hearing on June 21st in Sacramento to pledge their commitment to continued access to the full history of California.

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Senator Monique Limón’s legislation, SB 584 the Laborforce Housing Financing Act passed out of the Senate with a 27-11 vote. Senator Limón released the following statement in response,
“The vote today signals the legislative interest in advancing a conversation about what role short term rentals should play in helping invest in housing solutions for our state. The increase in short term rentals used as a business requires we examine the impact they present, whether opportunities or limitations, for our housing market.
(SACRAMENTO) – Ahead of the May Revise, Senator Monique Limón (D - Santa Barbara) and Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gómez Reyes (D - Colton) joined a coalition of parents, children and child care providers to call for critical investments in child care at the Stand for Children Lobby day. In February, Senator Limón and Majority Leader Reyes unveiled their plans to transform child care in California by increasing provider pay while eliminating unnecessary fees for families seeking child care.

(SACRAMENTO) — Earlier today, Senator Monique Limón held a press conference to introduce Senate Bill 584: The Laborforce Housing Fund alongside the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California. This bill will establish an ongoing funding source for local governments to create needed low-income and middle-income housing units across California.
(SACRAMENTO) — Earlier today, Senator Limón (D- Santa Barbara) and a broad coalition of 140+ grassroots advocacy organizations held a press conference in support of SB 846, a bill that would remove barriers to voter registration for millions of Californians.
SB 846 would upgrade California’s current Partial AVR system to a Secure AVR model, which would register approximately 4 million more people to vote, including underrepresented communities, people of color, women, and other hard to reach populations.
