Westminster Free Clinic & Community Care Center Named Nonprofit of the Year by Senator Monique Limón

(SACRAMENTO) – Every year, each legislator honors one nonprofit as ‘Nonprofit of the Year’ for their exemplary work in the community. This year, Senator Monique Limón has chosen the Westminster Free Clinic & Community Care Center as the 2025 Nonprofit of the Year for Senate District 21.
The Westminster Free Clinic and Community Care Center is a private, non-profit community care center designed to meet the needs of underserved, low-income, and uninsured residents in Ventura County. In 2023 the clinic provided over 13,900 medical services and served over 2,100 people through their school and community outreach programs, helping to bridge the divide in healthcare access.
“It is my honor to name the Westminster Free Clinic & Community Care Center as the 2025 Nonprofit of the Year for SD 21. The Westminster Free Clinic has been an invaluable resource for our community members by providing access to healthcare services as well as innovative programming to fill the gaps we so often see in our healthcare system,” said Senator Monique Limón. “Whether it be through mental health services, dental screenings, preventative care, or even through the clinic's community outreach programs, the Westminster Free Clinic provides critical and lifesaving care to those who need it most.”
“We are deeply honored to be recognized as a 2025 California Nonprofit of the Year by California State Senator Monique Limón. This award is a testament to the incredible hard work and dedication of our volunteers, staff, student interns, and community partners who make our work possible. At Westminster Free Clinic, we are committed to advancing healthcare access to the low-income uninsured by providing free, accessible care and training the next generation of youth to be healthcare leaders. This recognition is an inspiration for us to continue building a healthy Ventura County,” said Lisa Safaeinili, Executive Director of the Westminster Free Clinic.
Along with being a vital resource for community members in need of healthcare services, Westminster Free Clinic also serves as a training site by offering a two year healthcare training and education program to high school seniors from over twenty five high schools throughout Ventura County. The Teen Healthcare Internship® has four key components: health careers & medical skills training, youth leadership development, wellness programs & education, academic enrichment & college and careers counseling. Over one thousand students have completed the program, providing them with hands-on training and mentoring that prepares them for a long last career in the healthcare field.
