Statement on the Passing of Dolores Huerta

SACRAMENTO – Today, the State Senate Leader Monique Limón released the following statement on the passing of Dolores Huerta. 

“Leader. Champion. Feminist. Luchadora. Humanitarian. 
 

Dolores Huerta has meant so much to the world, to our country, to our state, and to me. Her and I worked together on legislation to curb predatory lending, advance clean vehicles for all communities, protect our environment, protect women’s rights, ensure worker rights, and so much more. 
 

She was more than a leader to me. She was personally so supportive of my work, tenure, and of my service as the leader of the California State Senate. 
 

Although this is a difficult moment of great loss, I know how much we all gained by her leadership and having had the chance to work alongside her to champion so many critical causes. My heart is heavy. We wanted to believe we would have her forever. 
 

We lost Dolores today, but her work, advocacy and impact will live on. 
 

Rest in peace, my friend. Si se puede.”
