Fall Festivities with Team Limón
#ConLimón In the District
Tea con Limón En Vivo

I hosted our 3rd annual Tea con Limón En Vivo event to celebrate Latino History Month. In the face of adversity and experiences due to devastating immigration raids, Latinos continue to make gains. Because of our progress, it is important that we bring leaders together to discuss how we can sustain this momentum and move California forward. Tea con Limón Live was bittersweet this year as we honored Congresswoman Brownley for her three decades of service to the Central Coast. With her leadership, the Central Coast has done so much for our veteran community, farmers, and our ports. Thank you, Congresswoman Brownley, for your dedication to the people of California.
Cafecito con Carbajal

It was an honor to participate in Congressman Carbajal’s annual Cafecito con Carbajal. This year we were joined by governor-elect Xavier Becerra. Together, we provided critical legislative updates, got to hear from many of you in the community, and connected across other levels of government to identify opportunities to better the state.
Annual Milpas Street Trick-or-Treat Festival

Halloween was a special treat this year thanks to the Annual Milpas Street Trick-or-Treat Festival. For the last 10 years, my team and I have enjoyed participating in this event, dressing up as icons like Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and local heroes like lab scientists. I hope everyone had a safe and eventful Halloween weekend, and thank you to everyone who helped make this annual event memorable.
Central Coast Labor Council Labor Leader of the Year Dinner

I was honored to attend the Central Coast Labor Council Labor Leader of the Year Dinner to help recognize the dedicated workers in our community. Honorees of the event included the UCSB Labor Center, which is an important resource for our community. I was proud to support the Legislative funding that led to the creation of the UCSB Labor Center in 2023. Since then, the Center has served as a pipeline for students to become local organizers themselves. Congratulations to the honorees and thank you to everyone who attended to support our Central Coast workforce.
The California Economic Summit

I was proud to stand alongside former Governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gray Davis to reflect on California’s legacy and our future. Governor Schwarzenegger was a key piece of our state’s effort to protect the air we breathe and cut down on emissions we know impact our environment and its future. Governor Davis continues to play a pivotal role in fostering a critical partnership between the legislature and the entrepreneurs and business leaders our state is proud to support. Thank you to our Governors for having me, and I look forward to our continued work together.
60th Anniversary of Santa Barbara County Association of Governments

Our team was honored to present the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments with a resolution honoring its 60 years of service to our community. SBCAG has been an integral part of the planning and execution of public transportation projects throughout Santa Barbara County. Recent projects include a new bike map, safety improvements to streets and highways in Carpinteria, and improving rail service between Ventura and Goleta.
NAACP Annual Freedom Fund Awards Banquet

The Ventura County branch of the NAACP hosted its Annual Freedom Fund Awards Banquet in Oxnard. I was honored to receive the Pioneer Award this year to recognize my service as the first mother and Latina to serve as the Pro Tempore of the Senate. This award is presented to individuals who, through their profession, promote diversity and pave the way for others to hold leadership positions. Thank you to the NAACP for their years of hard work in our community.
Commuter Rail Service Between Ventura & Santa Barbara

The new commuter rail service between Santa Barbara and Ventura is now open to riders. Thousands of people commute between Santa Barbara and Ventura every day. The new service will cut commute times, reduce traffic on Highway 101, and lower commuting costs by reducing reliance on cars. This route is part of the LOSSAN Rail Corridor, a state-run agency that connects Southern California. As a former member of the legislative LOSSAN rail subcommittee, I am proud of this service and look forward to more of our community utilizing this commuter option.
