Senator Limón Signs Four Bills as Acting Governor

What you need to know: Pro Tempore Monique Limón served as Acting Governor with Governor Newsom out of state.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Pro Tempore Monique Limón signed four bills into law while serving as the Acting Governor of California. 

  • SB 1080 (Senators Valladares)
  • SB 1440 (Committee on Local Government)
  • SB 1441 (Committee on Local Government)
  • SB 1442 (Committee on Local Government)

Today marks the first time a Latina has served as Acting Governor of California. She is also the second woman to be the Acting Governor since pro Tempore Emeritus Tony Atkins in 2024. 

“These bills bring timely process modernizations, reduce administrative burdens, and conserve taxpayers’ money. I am honored to sign these bills as Acting Governor and I thank the authors for their work on these policies that support the function of local government.”
