Women’s Economic Ventures Named Nonprofit of the Year by Senator Monique Limón
(SACRAMENTO) – Senator Monique Limón, Chair of the Senate Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector, will honor Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV) as her 2024 California Nonprofit of the Year at the Nonprofit of the Year Luncheon on June 5th in Sacramento.
“I am proud to recognize Women’s Economic Ventures as this year’s Nonprofit of the Year,” said Senator Monique Limón. “As Chair of the Senate Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector it is my honor to choose a nonprofit that speaks to the state’s goal of creating a California for all women. WEV has been a cornerstone of the business community for over 33 years in both Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties and has supported thousands of women entrepreneurs and local businesses. Congratulations to all involved in their success and thank you for your service to the central coast.”
Since 1991, WEV has worked to advance women’s economic power by cultivating women-owned businesses and entrepreneurs through business classes, consulting, and fundraising. WEV has helped more than 20,000 people throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, invested more than $9 million in small businesses through their loan and grant programs, and created or sustained 12,000 local jobs.
“The team at WEV are honored and overjoyed to be recognized by Senator Monique Limón as one of the California Nonprofits of the Year. Senator Limón has long been a champion of WEV’s mission of empowering women, especially those from Latino communities, to start businesses, gain financial independence and achieve their dreams. We are deeply grateful to Senator Limón for her support, and for continuing to shine a light on the impact of WEV’s work in the community.”
As Chair of the Senate Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector, Senator Monique Limón will host hundreds of nonprofits at the California State Capitol, in partnership with CalNonprofits, for their work in California communities.
