California State Senate Reaches Agreement to Support Survivors, Boost Wildfire Prevention, and Hold Utility CEOs Accountable

What you need to know: Since January, the Senate has sought to tackle the full spectrum of issues affecting wildfire recovery, mitigation, and accountability. Today, a three-party agreement on legislation will move forward to help survivors on their road to recovery, hold CEOs accountable for their utility-sparked wildfires, and reduce risks of devastating future wildfires through community-wide mitigation strategies.
 

SACRAMENTO – Today, pro Tempore Monique Limón released the following statement on Senate Bill 492 (Becker): 

The California State Senate has worked tirelessly this legislative session to help communities recover from devastating wildfires. We have heard from stakeholders both in the Capitol and in our own respective communities.

After months of conversations on how we can advance the priorities of Californians, we have come to an agreement that supports survivors in their recovery, curbs Wall Street practices that increase costs on consumers, and mitigates the destruction of these wildfires in the first place.
