Representatives from Central Coast and throughout the state traveled to Sacramento to attend the California Women’s Economic Summit last month. We spoke about the importance of women in the workforce and why childcare is a key aspect of retaining talented women in the workforce. 

National Bike Month

National Bike Month

California celebrated National Bike Month in May. Santa Barbara opened the Modoc multi-use path that connects Isla Vista to Arroyo Burro Beach. Members of our community then cycled to the new Asphalt Art Project on State Street. Active transportation projects are important and provide energy-efficient options for the Central Coast.

Santa Paula Police Memorial

Ventura County honored the service and sacrifice of fallen law enforcement officers during the Santa Paula Police Memorial Event. Thank you to the Honor Guard and the Bagpiper Corps for the procession to this event. Our community recognized the sacrifices of those officers by reading their names, ringing the ceremonial bell, and releasing doves in their honor.

Members of the Port Hueneme team shared an update with Oxnard last month. CEO and Port Director Kristen Decas noted that the Port brings in $18 billion annually and ranks among the top 10% of U.S. ports for cars and fresh produce.

TRIO Student Support Services Graduation at Oxnard College

The TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded program that assists first-generation college students, low-income students, and students with disabilities in succeeding and graduating. This program provides students with academic advising, financial aid counseling, and career support. 

UC Success Night at Santa Paula High School

UC Success Night at Santa Paula High School

Earlier this month, the City of Buellton held the grand opening of 50 units of new housing that aimed to provide long-term homes for low-income older adults, including formerly unhoused veterans. The Village Senior Apartments was developed through a $6 million investment provided by the state, as well as local funding, ensuring our most vulnerable have permanent housing for the foreseeable future.

The Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce rang in its 64th Annual Chamber Awards & Best of Heritage Valley celebration. Team Limón provided certificates to seven honorees, who range from small business owners to nonprofit extraordinaries.

Rio Del Valle Middle School will host the 3rd Annual Fatherhood Summit on June 14, 2026. Dads and father figures can attend workshops with resources to help build valuable parenting skills. Free childcare and food will be available.

3C-BEACH Program

3C-BEACH Program

Our district is taking part in the 3C-BEACH research project to explore the benefits of energy-efficient upgrades. The project retrofits single-family homes in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties.
