California Legislature Comes Together to Honor Lives Lost During LA Firestorms

(SACRAMENTO) – On the anniversary of the devastating Los Angeles firestorms, State Senate Leader Monique Limón and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas brought together their legislative colleagues from both sides of the aisle. They gathered at the California Firefighters Memorial in Sacramento’s Capitol Park for a moment of silence, honoring the lives lost during the tragedy.

One year ago today, we watched as the Los Angeles firestorms destroyed countless homes and devastatingly took the lives of thirty-one people,” said State Senate Leader Monique Limón. “From Sacramento to Los Angeles, the California Legislature will never forget that day, the heroic actions of our first responders, and the thousands of California families impacted. Our hearts are with our colleagues who are in their communities today – we stand in solidarity with them today and every day.”

“Today, California grieves the lives lost, holds close families still hurting and extends our hearts to Angelenos forever changed. We honor the firefighters and emergency responders who fought relentlessly to protect their communities. On this anniversary, we remember, we mourn, and we stand with Los Angeles,” said Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas.
