Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

#ConLimon In the District

Last month, I joined our Santa Barbara community to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. We continue his fight for justice and equity across District 21 and the state of California. Thank you to everyone who keeps his spirit alive in all that they do.

Santa Maria Firefighter Appreciation

Last month, we joined community members in their march to end Alzheimer’s. Thanks to the support of organizations like Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I passed legislation easing the burden of individuals and their families struggling with this life-altering disease.

Central Coast Leaders Come Together As ICE Arrests Surge in Santa Maria

The Santa Maria Elks Lodge honored first responders at their annual firefighters appreciation night. District 21 is no stranger to natural disasters. Our state continues to protect and honor the sacrifices of those who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our communities.

Ventura County Women’s March 2026

Over the holidays, our communities in Santa Maria and Lompoc saw unprecedented surges in federal immigration enforcement. I joined city and nonprofit leaders in Santa Maria to express my continued outrage over these actions. Thank you to local organizations that continue to support our immigrant communities.

Hollister Lofts Groundbreaking

Team Limón participated in the Ventura County Women’s March organized by Justice of All Ventura County, Planned Parenthood, and Indivisible Ventura. It was wonderful to hear from inspiring women who call District 21 home. These women remind us that courage is contagious and we have a future worth fighting for.

The City of Goleta broke ground on a new permanent supportive housing development that will create 35 units for formerly unhoused individuals. Team Limón joined the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara to celebrate the project, which is largely being funded by state funds.

Cardiac Emergency Response Drill for Teams

Thank you to the South County Chambers of Commerce for hosting their annual State of South County event. It was great to hear from the local community and business leaders on the issues most impacting them. I look forward to working with you all in this new year.

The Nevaeh Youth Sports Safety Act was passed in 2025 to help protect children who experience a cardiac emergency while playing sports. The Eric Parades Save A Life Foundation created a toolkit to help coaches and parents prepare for these moments, including how-to videos and tips on how to access an AED. All teams will be required to have a cardiac emergency plan by 2027/28. Click here to access the toolkit.

Hospitals are facing a severe blood shortage with a drop in supplies by about 35% in the last month. It comes as healthcare workers fight the worst flu season in nearly 20 years. The American Red Cross is calling on the public to donate blood now and through the winter to help hospitals recover their losses. Learn more here
