Sen Limón on the Senate Floor

(SACRAMENTO) – On Saturday afternoon,  the California State Legislature gaveled down on the first year of a two-year session, with Senator Limón advancing 11 policies to the Governor’s desk. Seventy percent of her 2025 legislative package received bipartisan support. The Governor has until October 12 to sign or veto all legislation.

“Since January, I have worked diligently on legislative proposals that protect California consumers, support workers and workplace protections, increase education for health care workers, expand access to child care, and expedite the recovery process for the victims of wildlife,”  said Senator Monique Limón “It has been my honor to serve the 21st Senate District and I look forward to building upon my work in the new year.”

Senator Limón’s 2025 legislative package includes:

  • SB 386 - Adds virtual credit cards to the types of payments that can be used with a dental provider.
  • SB 412 - Requires home care aides to complete a training related to the needs of patients with Alzheimer's and dementia as part of their bi-annual registration renewal.
  • SB 507 -Provides tribes with an opportunity to contribute to the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) of the local government.
  • SB 567 - Establishes a regulatory pathway to transition some idle wells to energy storage in the future.
  • SB 642 - Strengthens the California Equal Pay Act.
  • SB 676 - Expedites the rebuilding of communities recovering from wildfire-declared emergencies.
  • SB 702 - Boosts transparency for Gubernatorial and Legislative appointments.
  • SB 778 - Expands access to the Migrant Childcare and Development Program.
  • SB 825 - Boosts enforcement authority at the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation.
  • SB 831 - Establishes the Department of Conservation as the primary state agency responsible for the investigation of geologic hazards and acknowledges the exacerbating influence of climate change stressors on geologic hazards.
  • SB 840 - Cap and Invest Reauthorization

In addition to this legislative package, Senator Limón joined her colleagues to deliver critical resources to the victims of wildfires, rally around the immigrant community as they came under attack, speak out for those who have been silenced out of fear, and safeguard California’s values of equality, opportunity, and justice.

In June, the California Senate Democratic Caucus chose Senator Limón to serve as the next Senate President pro Tempore. During the last week of session, a formal transition date to this new leadership role was announced to the public. Senator Limón will officially become the 50th Senate President pro Tempore of the California State Senate on November 17, 2025.
